Event Title: The Foot: Evaluation and management of common disorders

This purpose of this workshop is to present to the practicing therapist the theory and techniques

required to understand foot articular anatomy and mechanics. The therapist will perform a

physical examination of the foot when assessing lower extremity dysfunction as a result of

overuse in an orthopedic/sports population, with reference to previous and current research.

Functional anatomy of the foot and ankle, normal mechanics of the foot and ankle during

walking, clinical evaluation techniques, as well as assessment and management principles for

common foot disorders will be discussed. Clinical management techniques will focus on the use

of footwear, adhesive strapping, and pre-molded foot orthoses.

OPAF and The First Clinics will host their First Volley Adaptive Tennis Clinic for Shriners Hospital for Children/Philadelphia at Bucks County Racquet Club.  This is the fourth year in a row that OPAF has hosted this clinic for Shriners Kids.  Clinic will be lead by our First Volley Director of Tennis, Darren Kindred, and staffed by Bucks County Racquet Club tennis professionals.  Shriners Kids along with the family and friends are invited to join us for an afternoon of adaptive tennis skills and drills and fun!

First Volley Adaptive Tennis will be part of the University of Northern Iowa's Adaptive Sports Camp on Saturday, June 19.  First Volley offers quality adaptive tennis skills and drills to anyone who wants to try tennis and chooses not to sit in a wheelchair to do so.  Wheelchair players are always welcome to join us.  This clinic is made possible through grant funding from USTA-Missouri Valley-Iowa District.

Event Title: Trulife Orthotic Fitter's Course

The Trulife Fitters Course, formerly CIAT (CAMP Institute of Applied Technology and TIAT Trulife Institute of Applied Technology) is an intensive, weeklong educational opportunity designed to prepare both beginners and more experienced fitters to more effectively perform within their scope of practice. It delivers practical techniques and strategies to better individuals and their organizations.

The Fitter's Course is a cost-effective avenue for fitters at all levels to add value to their employers.  The comprehensive curriculum is designed to cover the entire scope of practice usually assigned to fitters.

The program runs Monday-Friday with the choice of either Diabetic Foot or Mastectomy for Fitters on Friday.  Friday is mandatory.
